The score to Super Mario Bros. is set to be forensically explored in a forthcoming book dedicated to Koji Kondo's famous compositions.
The book will release as part of the longrunning 33 1/3 series, which focuses on classic albums through rock and pop history. Written by Andrew Schartmann, the book will join titles focusing on The Beatles, Radiohead, Pixies and Hole, among many others.
According to the book synopsis, "Kondo put to rest an era of bleeps and bloops-the sterile products of a lab environment-replacing it with one in which game sounds constituted a legitimate form of artistic expression."
More details can be found on the 33 1/3 website. The book is scheduled for a May 2015 release.
