FIFA 14 World Cup modes delayed on all platforms

EA "working hard to have the update ready to release in the coming days"

A free FIFA 14 update introducing new World Cup modes has been delayed on all platforms.

Originally scheduled for release today, the update will add a separate World Cup mode within FIFA Ultimate Team on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, plus a World Cup Kick Off mode on PS4 and Xbox One.

"To ensure the best possible experience, we have decided to delay the launch," EA said.

"Knowing that our players have been so excited for these new modes made it a tough decision. However, as we progressed through final testing we encountered unforeseen issues that would affect all users who downloaded the update, so it's important to address them first before release.

"Our team is currently working hard to have the update ready to release in the coming days."

A further update on EA's progress is due on Thursday evening European time.

The Ultimate Team Mode will let players build a squad of players from all 32 national teams participating in this summer's tournament. It will feature all team crests and kits, the official Adidas Brazuca match ball and the Estadio do Marcana stadium, which will host the World Cup final on July 13.
