Video: Dying Light E3 trailer shows off 'natural movement'

Dying Light's parkour-inspired "Natural Movement" system is the star of this E3 2014 trailer, which developer Techland has released ahead of its showcase next week.

The unnamed player character briefly converses with a dangerous-sounding fellow before sprinting across the zombie infested city's rooftops, combining giant leaps with sledgehammer blows and elbow drops. The video also depicts how the walking corpses can be smashed, slashed, and shot into several pieces.

Techland said it delayed Dying Light into 2015 to hone the Natural Movement system.

"We believe the Natural Movement element of our game will change what you expect from the genre, and we don't want to sacrifice any of its potential by releasing too early," Techland said. "This quality-focused thinking underlines all our development choices and we hope you share our belief that the gameplay must always come first."

Dying Light is planned for release on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Techland is also working on first-person hack-and-slasher Hellraid, which was similarly delayed to 2015 in May.

Techland will provide more in-depth details on Dying Light at E3.
