GOG.com has unveiled its new Galaxy gaming platform, a collection of optional internet-connected services for games purchased through the service meant to rival Steam.
The client application announced on Thursday will offer automatic updating, achievements, and social features, and will facilitate inter-platform multiplayer.
While these features will require an internet connection and a GOG.com account to play, customers are still free to play their games without the client the same as they could before.
GOG.com is a subsidiary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt house CD Projekt Red. One of the first titles to appear on Galaxy will be The Witcher Adventure Game - users can sign up for a chance to participate in its closed mutliplayer beta now.
Pre-ordering The Witcher 3 through GOG.com will also come with two free beta keys for The Witcher Adventure Game.
CD Projekt Red revealed in the same pre-E3 presentation that The Witcher 3 release date is February 24, 2015.
