Killzone Shadow Fall retro maps teased

Guerrilla Games also touches on rumours that its new IP will be open world

Guerrilla Games has teased plans to release retro multiplayer maps as Killzone Shadow Fall DLC.

In response to a fan singing the praises of Killzone 2's Radec Academy map, senior online producer Samrat Sharma said during a Reddit AMA: "Stay tuned for our retro map announcement."

Pressed on plans to re-release maps from past series entries for the PS4 shooter, he responded: "Stay. Tuned. Also: all maps are free, I hope you know that."

The next batch of Killzone Shadow Fall DLC will introduce an online co-op mode later this month. Titled Intercept, the upcoming expansion will be on shown at E3 next week, Sharma said.

He also appeared to confirm rumours that Guerrilla's unannounced new IP will be open world. "Open games are a very different beast, and an unprepared team can spend loads of people and money making content for an open game (I used to work for Ubisoft, so I know the pitfalls to avoid).

"Thankfully, we have an ever curious technical team that is not resting on its laurels and investigating new frontiers that help us push our content in new an interesting directions. As for open, specifically, you'll have to wait for the next game's announcement to see what it does."

Asked if the studio's new game will be shown before E3, Sharma said: "No, we won't be showing it right now. Simple reason: we are confident enough in the game, but it's not something we can show and expect reasonable feedback. There is simply a lot of work that we need to do before we show it to our fans."
