Assassin's Creed Unity will break new ground in Ubisoft's staple franchise by offering four-player co-op throughout the campaign mode.
Ubisoft senior producer, Vincent Pontbriand, confirmed the new feature during an exclusive game trailer shown at Microsoft's E3 2014 press conference.
The game is set in 18th century Paris, during the French revolution.
Pontbriand says the development team has built "our biggest playground ever, which we have filled with hundreds of quests, activities and rewards".
At the time of going to press, no release date has been set.
Assassin's Creed: Unity was officially announced on March 22 following the appearance of leaked promotional material. It will release for PS4, Xbox One and PC this "holiday season".
Ubisoft will deliver its annual E3 press briefing on today at 11pm UK time.
