Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS box art revealed

Nintendo releases the packshots for its upcoming brawler

Nintendo has published the box art for the upcoming 3DS version of Super Smash Bros.

Update: Nintendo has also released the box art for the Wii U version, starring Mario, Peach, Donkey Kong, Wii Fit Trainer, Samus, Animal Crossing's Villager, Pit, Kirby, Link, and Pikachu.


The artwork shows series regulars Link, Mario, Pikachu, Samus, Kirby and Yoshi alongside newcomers such as Little Mac, Rosalina and the Animal Crossing Villager.


Classic Namco character Pac-Man was confirmed as a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros on Tuesday night, joining other newly announced characters Palutena from Kid Icarus and Mii Fighter.

Nintendo has announced a Super Smash Bros 3DS release date of October 3. The home console version will launch holiday 2014, the company said during its E3 digital event on Tuesday.

The Wii U version will be the first game to support Amiibo, Nintendo's upcoming NFC platform. Players will be able to import characters and save their stats and fighting styles to their figures.

Confirmed returning playable Smash Bros characters include Ike, King Dedede, Luigi, Captain Olimar, Sonic, Princess Peach, Toon Link and Diddy Kong.

Making Smash Bros debuts in the upcoming games are Mega Man and Animal Crossing's Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina and Luma from Super Mario Galaxy, Punch-Out hero Little Mac and Pokemon Greninja.
