Multiplayer action RPG Final Fantasy Explorers is in development for Nintendo 3DS, Square Enix has announced.
The game will let parties of up to four players team up to explore the world in search of crystals and battle enemy Summons. The news came in the latest issue of Jump Magazine and was translated by Siliconera.
Players can choose from multiple classic Final Fantasy jobs as they progress through the game, including the Black Mage, White Mage, Knight, and Monk. Each one can be equipped with a wide range of equipment.
While the Black Mage casts offensive magic, the White Mage can heal the party, the Monk can dish out heavy melee damage, and the Knight can protect allies by attracting enemy attacks. Progression through the game will require strategic use of each job's strengths.
The report stated that Final Fantasy Explorers is being developed internally at Square Enix. It did not indicate a release date, or whether it is planned for sale overseas.
Square Enix confirmed earlier this week that Final Fantasy Type-0 will get a Western release via a remastered PS4 and Xbox One version.
