Video: Nintendo introduces Code Name: STEAM

Nintendo has published video of its announcement roundtable for Code Name: STEAM, showing the turn-based shooter game in action.

Helmed by Hitoshi Yamagami (Fire Emblem, Advance Wars) in collaboration with Intelligent Systems, the 3DS game will feature strategic combat with third-person shooter elements.

The game takes place in a steampunk world, with monsters inspired by horror author H.P. Lovecraft.

According to creative director Paul Patrashcu speaking at the presentation, the game will bear less resemblance to Valkyria Chronicles than appearances may suggest. He said Code Name S.T.E.A.M. will feel more like a shooter, while Valkyria was a hardcore strategy RPG borrowing elements from shooters.

Shigeru Miyamoto, who is involved with the project, also announced three new game prototypes for Wii U earlier this week: Project Giant Robot, Project Guard and Star Fox Wii U.
