Drinkbox Studios' Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is launching on PS3 and Xbox 360.
The former Vita exclusive from the developers of Guacamelee stars a tennis ball-sized blob that absorbs everything in its path, eventually dwarfing (and subsuming) whole city blocks.
No matter its size, the blob gets around side-view platforming worlds by sliding around, squishing through narrow spaces, rocket boosting, and using telekinesis to move objects.
The game releases on North American PS3 on Tuesday and internationally on PS3 and Xbox 360 on Wednesday. It costs $7.99/€6.99/£5.49 for new purchasers, but PS Vita owners can buy a $3.99/€2.99/£2.39 upgrade pack which includes the PS3 version, some avatars, themes, and the original soundtrack.
"We've often been asked when we would bring Mutant Blobs Attack to new platforms and why we gave such a long and difficult title to what is otherwise an amazing game," DrinkBox co-founder Ryan MacLean said in a prepared statement. "We're excited to now offer the game to a whole new group of gamers and we're confident Mutant Blobs Attack will become their favorite gelatinous game as well. As for the title, we feel a short name would have been too easy."
