Destiny is PlayStation exclusive in Japan

Game releasing one week after Xbox One launches in Sony's home country

Destiny will be released exclusively on PlayStation consoles in Japan.

Sony will publish Bungie's game on PS3 and PS4 in association with Activision, the Japanese company announced this week.

The western Destiny release date is September 9 on PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360, while a PC release is still under consideration.

The game will be released on September 11 in Japan, one week after Xbox One launches in Sony's home country.

PlayStation Plus subscribers were recently granted access to a first-look alpha for Destiny, while Activision will launch the Destiny beta on July 17 for PS3 and PS4 players.

PlayStation exclusive Destiny content will include a new co-op Strike mission set on Mars, an additional competitive multiplayer map, and a selection of guns, gear and ships.
