Tecmo Koei to switch its name around in EU from July

Second Japanese publisher to rebrand in 2014 following now-named Bandai Namco

Tecmo Koei has announced plans to switch its name around in Europe to Koei Tecmo.

The name change will come into effect from July 1, 2014, the company confirmed via a brief Twitter post.

This mirrors a similar move by fellow Japanese publisher Bandai Namco which, earlier this year, reversed its EU branding from the previously named Namco Bandai.

It's unclear if the firm's name change will affect other regions where it is also known as Tecmo Koei (America, Canada, Singapore, etc).

Associated social media accounts such as Twitter will see the appropriate changes in due course.

Tecmo Koei, formed in 2009 following the merger of Koei and Tecmo, is a major Japanese game publisher with the Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden and Dynasty Warriors franchises among the biggest in its portfolio.
