Nexon to publish Sleeping Dogs dev's free-to-play title in 2015

Publisher is "confident it's going to be a smash hit"

Nexon has announced it has entered into an agreement with United Front Games, developer of Sleeping Dogs, to publish a free-to-play title in 2015.

"Nexon brings an unparalleled wealth of knowledge of the growing free-to-play market. We are thrilled to partner with a publisher who has an excellent track record of building direct and meaningful relationships with players," said United Front chief executive officer, Stephen van der Mescht.

"We can't wait to unveil our new title with Nexon America, we're confident it's going to be a smash hit."

"We are committed to bringing a new line-up of AAA-quality free-to-play games to the Western market, and our partnership with United Front Games is another step toward achieving this goal," added Owen Mahoney, president and chief executive officer of Nexon.

"United Front Games' team has a great track record of developing successful titles, and we're looking forward to showing the world what our combined strengths can create in 2015."

In October 2013, United Front Games confirmed it's working on a new game titled Triad Wars. Although details were not revealed, the studio said the game is "based in the Sleeping Dogs universe".

"We're super-excited that it's another game based in the Sleeping Dogs universe, it's something we've wanted to do for ages, and we're very happy to be working with Square Enix again... but that's all we can give you for the time being," said UFG.

More recently, a retailer has listed a PS4 and Xbox One version of Sleeping Dogs for release on November 21.
