World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor beta test is live

Invites rolling out to registered participants

The public beta test for World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor has begun.

Blizzard announced on the game's official blog that it is distributing invitations to players who have opted in via as well as press and community members.

The first phase of the beta focuses on the Tanaan Jungle starting zone and lets players move into the next two areas: Shadowmoon Valley for the Alliance and Frostfire Ridge for the horde.

Players can copy over their high-level characters from the regular realms or begin playing with level 90 character templates. No non-disclosure agreement is required, so participants are free to share their experiences via streams or any other means.

Warlords of Draenor is the next major WoW expansion, and will explore the franchise's history across the new continent of Draenor. It will also increase World of Warcraft's level cap to 100 and offer players the option to immediately boost one new or existing character to level 90.

The expansion will also introduce visual upgrades that'll increase the polygon counts of some player models more than fivefold, Blizzard confirmed earlier this year.

Blizzard says the expansion is expected to release on or before December 20, 2014.
