North American pre-order data compiled by Cowen and Company research analyst Doug Creutz indicates that Destiny may be on track to become the best-selling game of 2014.
Cowen's 'Ordometer' tracks US software pre-orders and then correlates the results to sales after launch, VentureBeat reports. It measures the data every week from E3 in early June to the end of the year for Xbox and PlayStation games.
With Destiny generating the highest Ordometer score of any game tracked over the past four years, Creutz predicts Bungie's online shooter could sell between ten and 15 million copies this year.
Battlefield Hardline is faring less well, with pre-orders tracking well behind 2011's Battlefield 3 and 2013's Battlefield 4, and roughly on par with 2012's commercial failure Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
