Nintendo has announced that the Secret Base feature will return to Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in an improved form.
Secret Bases featured in the original Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. They let players create their own secret area and customise it with furniture, decorations and Pokemon statues.
In the upcoming 3DS remake they will instead be known as Super-Secret Bases and will work in a similar way, but with newly added features.
Players will be able to share their Super-Secret Bases with others by StreetPassing them. When you enter another player's Super-Secret Base you will be able to battle to talk to them (as a NPC) or battle their Pokemon.
If you like them, you can then scout them as one of your 'Secret Pals' and bring them to your own base as a NPC.
Once you become Secret Pals with someone you can keep battling their Pokemon whenever you like, and also use their special skills to support you during the single-player adventure.
A new Capture The Flag feature has also been added, in which you will be able to take flags from players' Super-Secret Bases and use them to improve your own team's rank, earning you rewards.
If StreetPassing a friend isn't possible, there will also be an option to generate a QR code for your Super-Secret Base, which you can then share online for people to scan and visit.
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are 3DS remakes of the GBA classics Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, taking advantage of the new polygonal 3D engine which debuted in Pokemon X & Y.
The Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire release date is November 21 in North America and Japan, and November 28 in Europe.
