Saints Row studio Volition intends to expand by hiring 100 new staff.
Details of the Champaign, Illinois-based company's expansion plans were released as a result of an application to the city for financial assistance in remodelling Volition's office, GamesIndustry reports.
Volition is reportedly seeking $200,000 for building work and an additional $100,000 to offset the cost of its plans ($1,000 per new employee). It has been suggested that the studio will consider moving out of the city's expensive downtown area should it not receive the support.
With the addition of 100 new people, it is believed the total headcount at Volition will reach 300.
According to The News Gazette, which has acquired a memo sent to the city council, Volition's parent company Koch Media and its publishing label Deep Silver have encouraged seeking the most cost-effective avenue for its expansion.
Volition was acquired by Koch Media as part of the THQ IP auction in January 2013. It paid $22.3 million for the studio, reportedly beating off competition from Ubisoft.
Volition's most recent game is Saints Row IV. The open-world title was released in August 2013 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
