Destiny companion app released

Available on iOS and Android devices ahead of this week's beta

Bungie has released the Destiny companion app on iOS and Android devices.

The mobile and tablet app provides access to stats, lore and social services, among other features, which were shown off in a walkthrough video earlier this week.

Its release coincides with the launch of the Destiny beta, which will commence this Thursday, July 17 on PS4 and PS3, and on July 23 on Xbox One and Xbox 360. It will remain open on all formats until July 27 at 11:59 pm PDT.

The beta will provide registered players with three download codes so they can invite two friends to join them.

It was rumoured earlier this week that the Destiny beta will include four story chapters, four competitive multiplayer maps and a cooperative Strike, among other features. Progress made in the beta could carry over to the final game.
