3DS and Vita sales jump in Japan

Level 5 RPG Yo-kai Watch 2 sells 1.3 million copies in its first week

3DS and Vita sales jumped in Japan during the week ended July 13, with the two systems moving more than 100,000 units combined.

In comparison, Wii U, PS3, PS4, PSP and Xbox 360 sold a combined total of 27,000 units, according to data from retail monitor Media Create, which was republished on NeoGAF.

The 3DS hardware sales boost can be more easily explained than the Vita spike, given the phenomenal opening enjoyed by the latest Level 5 RPG, Yo-kai Watch 2, which released on July 10 and sold 1.3 million copies in its first four days of availability.
