Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor release date brought forward

Action RPG now arriving in the UK on October 3

Warner Bros. has bought forward the Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor release date by one week to September 30 in North America and October 3 in the UK.

The publisher previously announced a North American Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor release date of October 7 on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

The original release date clashed with a number of high-profile releases including Alien Isolation, DriveClub and NBA 2K15.

The Monolith developed action RPG tells a new story set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It stars a valiant ranger called Talion who, "banished from death and embodied by a mysterious spirit, is compelled to seek vengeance on those who killed his family and left him to die".

The game also features a 'Nemesis System', in which enemy relationships and characteristics are shaped by the actions and decisions the player makes throughout the game. When the player re-encounters certain enemies, their foes will remember what the player did before and react accordingly, according to Warner.

The publisher recently released a new Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor trailer showing off pre-order bonuses. Those who pre-order the game will receive access to DLC including a Dark Ranger character skin and a new 'Test of Power' challenge mode.
