Nintendo of America is to package both NES Remix titles on one disc for a retail release later this year.
"NES Remix Pack - a physical version of both #NESRemix and NES Remix 2 - is coming to stores this holiday season," the company announced.
Asked about a potential European release, a Nintendo spokesperson told CVG: "This is a US announcement and we have nothing to announce at this time."
The titles emulate brief sections of a range of classic NES games. Some challenges break out tasks straight from the originals, like climbing to the top of the level in Donkey Kong.
Others apply new effects and mechanics, like darkening much of the screen, adding vibrant colour and sound effects, or putting characters from one game into another.
NES Remix director Koichi Hayashida explained in April why the series is currently exclusive to Wii U, saying that it "would have been more difficult to do it for the 3DS".
CVG's NES Remix review concluded: "Not for everyone, but retro and time trial enthusiasts will love the huge number of old-school challenges on offer here."
