First Hitman Agent 47 movie images released

20th Century Fox has released the first images from its upcoming movie Hitman: Agent 47.

Scheduled for release on February 27 2015, the film stars Homeland actor Rupert Friend in the lead role of Agent 47, which was originally due to be played by the late Paul Walker.

Zachary Quinto, Hannah Ware, Thomas Kretschmann and Ciaran Hinds also star in the film, which is directed by Aleksander Bach and co-written by Skip Woods. Woods previously wrote the screenplay for the 2007 Hitman film, which starred Timothy Olyphant and generated $92 million worldwide, having only cost around $25 million to make.

An explosive trailer for the film aired at San Diego Comic-Con but yet to be publicly released showed Agent 47 making an escape from a police interrogation room in a not so stealthy manner, /Film reports.

In late May, series creator IO Interactive released the first concept art for its next Hitman game. In development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, the title will star a globetrotting Agent 47 in the prime of his career, fulfilling contracts across "huge, checkpoint-free, sandbox levels" with the support of the ICA and long-term handler Diana Burnwood.
