Square Enix confirms Gamescom line-up

Includes first European hands-on with Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

Square Enix has announced its Gamescom line-up, while confirming that it will expand its presence at this year's event to offer more than 180 hands-on stations to consumers.

Arguably the highlight of the company's line-up is Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. European consumers will be able to go hands-on with the game for the first time ahead of the Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris release date of December 9, 2014.

Attendees will also be able to compete in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn's new frontline PvP mode that pits three teams of eight against each other or try to stand their ground in extreme battle challenges.

Nosgoth, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix, Dragon Quest IV and Dragon Quest VIII will also be playable.

Square Enix Europe COO Mike Sherlock said: "It's great for Square Enix to support Gamescom once again, the show is growing year on year in terms of numbers and importance, and is the biggest gaming event in Europe.

"Our games showcase the impressive talent from Square Enix's Eastern and Western studios and our line-up has something for everyone - MMO players, console gamers, families, mobile users and PC competitive gamers."

Among others, Bethesda, CD Projekt Red, Crytek, Deep Silver, EA, Konami, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony and Ubisoft have been confirmed for Gamescom 2014, which will take place in Cologne from August 13-17.

Koelnmesse said the number of companies that signed up to exhibit during the early booking phase for this year's event was up 50 per cent compared to 2013's total.
