Hyrule Warriors Nintendo Direct confirmed for August 4

Nintendo show off more of the Zelda themed Dynasty Warriors spin-off

Nintendo has announced plans to hold a new Direct event on August 4 focusing on upcoming Wii U action game Hyrule Warriors.

As with previous Nintendo Directs, the video will be available on YouTube from 8pm PT/ 11pm ET in North America and 7am GMT in the UK.

Developed by Techmo Koei, Hyrule Warriors is a Zelda-themed Dynasty Warriors spin-off. Tecmo Koei Games president Yoichi Erikawa has said that the worldwide popularity of the Zelda franchise will drive sales of the game.

"In addition to our Warriors series fan base, Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda is also a very popular series with a large fan base, and I think it will become a great new market," Erikawa said. "Because of The Legend of Zelda's legion of fans overseas, we are aiming to sell more than one million copies worldwide."

Numerous Hyrule Warriors trailers have been published in recent weeks, showing off Link, Impa, Zelda, Agitha, new character Lana and the Fire Rod item.

The Hyrule Warriors release date has been confirmed as August 14 in Japan, September 19 in Europe and September 26 in North America.
