PlayStation has released what appears to be a Gamescom teaser video hinting at a big announcement for the German expo later this month.
The brief video shows a close-up shot of drops of blood hitting a snowflake and concludes with the text: '#PlayStationGC'. There's no further information.
The 'GC' in the message appears to point to the Gamescom expo, which will take place in Cologne from August 13-17, leaving the game it refers to open for speculation.
The strongest suggestion would be a possible re-reveal for Until Dawn, a horror game originally revealed for PS3 at the 2012 Gamescom expo.
The original Until Dawn PS3 box art, pictured right for reference, also featured drops of blood in a snowy environment next to a broken torchlight.
The long dormant first-person horror game recently resurfaced in a US trademark filing, fueling rumors that the title has been re-engineered for a PS4 release, possibly as a virtual reality game compatible with the PS4 Project Morpheus headset.
Other suggestions for the snowy theme of the teaser video include nods to EA's Frostbite Engine and thus a Battlefield: Hardline showcase, a possible reference to the Snowdrop Engine that powers Ubisoft's anticipated game The Division, or a reference to the snowy atmospheres seen in the Assassin's Creed: Rogue reveal trailer, which was unveiled today perhaps sooner than planned due to an earlier leak.
