Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition appears on Amazon

PS4, Xbox One version set for October release

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition for PS4 and Xbox One has appeared on Amazon, all but confirming the open-world crime thriller is making its way to the new generation of consoles.

As spotted by Kotaku, the game is said to be due for release on October 14 in North America. It includes all previously released DLC and pre-order copies will also include a 28-page book filled with concept art from the game's development.

Promotional images describe the game as having been "rebuilt specifically for next-gen consoles." The PC version of the original game released with a well-received HD textures pack, offering a hint at the upgraded visuals players can expect.

We've asked Square Enix for comment on the listings and will update this story with any response.

UK retailer ShopTo posted then pulled listings for Sleeping Dogs HD in June, likely referring to the same product.

Sleeping Dogs originally released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in August 2012. CVG's Sleeping Dogs review called it "one of the best open world games of recent years", adding: "It lacks that pristine GTA polish, sure, but it makes up for it with its sense of humour, compelling story and fun mission design."

Sleeping Dogs studio United Front Games' next title is called Triad Wars. It released an off-screen teaser image of the project in December 2013. Although not official yet, the snap appeared to confirm that the spin-off title will maintain a third-person perspective.
