Skylanders Trap Team to launch on tablets the same day as consoles

iOS and Android version to come with bespoke controller and portal

The tablet version of Skylanders Trap Team will launch on the same day as the console versions.

Somewhat unusually for a tablet game, Skylanders Trap Team on iOS and Android will be exactly the same game as its console counterparts, rather than a spin-off or mini-game collection.

Because of this, the tablet version will launch with its own Starter Set, priced at $74.99, which comes complete with a bespoke portal, two Skylander figures and two traps.

It will also come with a wireless bluetooth controller that can be used to play the game.

The game will be a free download on the Google Play store and iTunes, but will only provide limited demo gameplay with two characters. In order to play through the full game players will need the Starter Set.

Because of the number of characters supported by the game, the table version of Trap Team will initially be a 1GB download which can potentially grow up to 6GB as new characters are added.

In the game players will be able to "trap" key villains and then transfer and confine them inside new Traptanium Trap toys placed on the Skylanders Portal.

Once trapped, players will be able to hear villains' cries via a built-in speaker, and return them to the Skylands at any time as a playable character.

Activision says this will enable unique "tag team" gameplay, with hero and villain characters able to be switched at any time.

The Skylanders: Trap Team release date is set for October 5, 2014 in North America, October 10, 2014 in Europe and October 2, 2014 in Australia.
