Minecraft creator 'over being upset about Facebook' acquisition

Oculus Rift support for Minecraft once again a possibility

Official Oculus Rift VR support for Minecraft may be a possibility once more as the game's creator Markus 'Notch' Persson has said he's no longer upset over the Facebook acquisition.

Facebook announced it had purchased the virtual reality headset company for $2 billion in March. In an almost immediate response, Persson abruptly and publicly declared that he had canceled a deal to bring Minecraft to Oculus Rift.

"We were in talks about maybe bringing a version of Minecraft to Oculus. I just cancelled that deal," he said in a Twitter post at the time.

"Facebook creeps me out," he added.

That sentiment has since worn off, according to a now calmer Persson. "And about now I'm officially over being upset about Facebook buying Oculus. I'm upset about there being a hole in my favorite sock instead," he joked in a recent Twitter post.

While this doesn't confirm plans for Minecraft on the Rift, the resulting conversation between Persson and Oculus VR's chief technology John Carmack gave hope to the possibility that an official version may yet be produced.

"Say the word, ship the source, and i'll make sure It runs well on you-know-what..." said Carmack to Persson, who later told his followers that such a project is "up to the minecraft dev team".

Minecraft console developer 4J Studios is working to have Vita, PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game finished in time for release this month.

A Minecraft Vita trailer was recently released.
