Pokemon Art Academy dated for October in North America

Learn to draw Nintendo's cute, colorful monsters

Pokemon Art Academy will release on October 24 in North America, Nintendo announced Friday.

The Pokemon-centric edition of Nintendo's stylus-art training series hits North American 3DS systems several months after it arrived in Japan and Europe.

The game includes 40 step-by-step lessons teaching players how to draw and paint Pokemon including Pikachu, Oshawott, Charizard, Torchic, Fletchling and Fennekin.

Lessons become increasingly complex as players progress; they start out by learning how to draw Pokemon profiles, then players move on to drawing Pokemon starting with simple shapes. More detailed lessons follow, including coloring techniques such as shading, shadowing and depth as well as unlockable drawing sessions for Mega Evolved Pokemon.

Pokemon Art Academy also includes Free Paint mode, which lets players either draw from scratch or use provided images of over 100 Pokemon or images from the 3DS camera as reference.

Once their artwork is finished, the piece can be shared on Miiverse or saved to the SD card for printing.
