Resident Evil HD Remastered screens: Old vs. new comparison

How the HD remake stacks up against the GameCube version

Capcom has released new screenshots of the Resident Evil HD Remastered remake, offering a comparison between the new and old visuals.

The screenshots in the gallery below (with the exception of the final three shots) show similar scenes in the new game, bound for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC in early 2015, and the original version which first released for GameCube in 2002.

Resident Evil HD Remastered will feature full 1080p visuals as well as support for 5.1 surround sound audio.

Players will be able to pick between playing in the original 4:1 ratio or switching to 16:9. A classic control style, in addition to a style suited to modern games will be available to choose from.

Developed by Capcom Production Studio 4, the 2002 Resident Evil remake took the seminal PlayStation entry and updated gave it a complete visual overhaul as well as introduced new mechanics and systems from later entries in the series, as well puzzle design tweaks.

It was released for the GameCube and a Wii port was later developed by Happy Happening and Capcom.
