Nintendo has officially confirmed the first wave of Amiibo figures that will launch later this year.
The initial line-up will contain twelve NFC figures in total, each retailing for $12.99 in the US (a European price has yet to be confirmed).
The list of twelve is as follows:
- Donkey Kong
- Wii Fit Trainer
Nintendo revealed the toy line during its E3 digital event. Set for release this holiday, the home console version of Super Smash Bros for Wii U & 3DS will be the first game to support Amiibo.
For Super Smash Bros, players will be able to import characters and save their stats and fighting styles to their figures. Amiibo will also support the recently released Mario Kart 8, with more information promised at a later date.
Earlier today, Nintendo announced updated versions of 3DS hardware which will come with built-in NFC reading capabilities. Older models will be able to read the figures using a separate peripheral.
