Xenoblade Chronicles is coming to the New 3DS, Nintendo announced in a Nintendo Direct Friday.
Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata introduced the rebuilt 2010 RPG, which he said will be playable only on the new 3DS and 3DS XL systems introduced earlier in the presentation because of their superior CPU.
The title was not confirmed for release outside of Japan.
The game appears to play similarly to the Wii version of Xenoblade Chronicles, with parties of adventurers gathering to battle massive monsters in sprawling environments. Its protagonist, Shulk, was also officially confirmed to appear in Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS.
Nintendo announced at E3 that Xenoblade Chronicles X would continue the series' story on Wii U in 2015.
Aside from more powerful processors, the new 3DS systems also feature a second circle pad and ZL and ZR buttons, essentially combining the system with its Circle Pad Pro accessory.
