Alias

Never mind double agent, shapely Sydney Bristow is more a kind of six-figure super-spy, what with her many identities and costume changes. The game of the hit American TV show looks on course to recreate all the thrills of carrying out international espionage while wearing a skimpy disguise and a silly wig.

Picking up from the series' kick-ass story arc, Syd's got to go up against über-baddie Arvin Sloane in a story that sees her trying to prevent a mysterious and deadly device, known only as The Machine, out of wrong-doers hands. You do this in true Alias style - infiltration, eye-gouging martial arts and fancy ladies' fashions.

Mine's A Dirty Martini

Taking the first mission as an example, your first task is to blend in as a cocktail waitress in order to slip a tracer serum into a suspect's drink. Then you must ransack the secret base for scorching info. You can't blow your cover on the casino floor or the security guards will make mincemeat of you, but once you're snooping around where you're not meant to, any guard who spots you will engage, giving you the choice of playing stealthy or gung-ho. This kind of variety in the missions, along with the quirky tasks you must perform, should help make Alias a worthy spin-off from the awesome show.

The verdict

It's coming along a lot more nicely than many other TV and film tie-ins seen this year. Could well be worth sneaking on to your Christmas list.
