Great news for PS3 owners, its a fantastic game. Recommend every PS3 owner gets it as soon as its released. I'm more interested in the sequal :) yep, def' one of the best new FPS this gen i've played, oh and i got the awesome bad ending :wink: me too, being evil is fun :D If it's a good port i'll be getting it. I would have got it eventually if i got a 360-it looks good and am glad the PS3 is getting it even if it's been out on the 360 forever :D Too true,one of the best games ever made imo as well. Agreed. This sorta game needs to reach as vast an audience as possible, that way publishers will hopefully take more of a risk by commissioning such games. ah, hmm, well, its a decent enough game I guess, though it doesnt really last after a first playthrough. Nor is it especially long. But it is good while it does last.
Can't really see it being worthty of a full price purchase / release unless they're adding a whole heap of stuff to it, though. Yep, it's a great game. Did it twice on 360 (both endings) but reckon I could give it another. I'm joining the bandwagon here but ever since reading the reviews, when it first came out on the 360, I've always been envious of Xbox owners having this to themselves.
So I can't wait but please, as I am an average gamer at best so I can take my time completing games, don't release it around the same time as Resistance 2!

Oh and I hope it's a decent port. The dreaded word 'Frame rate' springs to mind If it's ported well, it will be the first decent game on PS3 - hopefully that will stop them whinging for a while. Yeah, couldn't agree more with pretty much everyone else here - fantastic game that everybody needs to play....simple as that

There isn't another game quite like it for atmosphere and the more people who experience it the better. The first decent game, eh? I've got quite a good few decent games for the ps3 so far It'll be interesting to see if the PS3 version will require a 4-5GB install. I have it on the 360 and as it's been said many times, it's utterly brilliant. I believe this game as sold a couple of million already so it's a franchise that has legs. :) They should port it on the Wii, use the plasmids with the Wii remote, or update it on 360 to use the '360 motion sensor controller' You know this says a lot for the state of the ps3, when after all this time one of the best games to look forward to is an old 360 game.
Sony please get you're act together, we need games. If your a PS3 owner get the game. Simple as that.
One thing, is this going to dealy the inevitable sequel on the 360?

They'll want to have us all singing from the same hymn sheet, surely? Bioshock is great, I am still enjoying playing through it again. I can't understand why you say it is not especially long, Berelain? It took me approx. 20 hours to complete the first time while missing out some of the areas you didn't need to visit.
Great atmosphere coupled with enthralling and spooky music/crescendo's. (Did I spell that right? :mrgreen: ) I really wish I'd kept a list of all the Sony fanboys who said this game was rubbish and that the 'Xbots can keep it' :roll: Boy will they look stupid drooling over it now great game, apart from being too short and having next to no replay value unfortunately, other than that you PS3 guys are in for a treat Just a pity the game was so ridiculously easy, even on hard. Invulnerability by design doth not an exciting experience make.
Which is a shame, because the idea and setting, despite the inherent boxiness enforced by the console tech, was very promising... Really? wow, you must have done a lot more than me, or I must have really raced through it, then. I finished the game in a weekend, about 8-12 hours of play I reckon. Barely longer than Gears of War...
Dont get me wrong though- I'd rather a game was short but of a high quality all the way through than overly long and stretched. Agreed on the more people this game reaches the better comments! It was pretty long for me cause I'm rather OC about checking everything out incase I miss something. I tried every single door, listened to every diary I found etc..
It's all about how you play it. People say Black & White and Fable are short, but not if you play it 'right'. I guess I just enjoyed it to the point that I spent prolonged periods looking at the scenery. I tended to stop everytime I encountered a new group of enemies and just had to think of a unique way of killing them. Whatever its' length, I think we can agree that it is at least longer than the vast majority of FPS's out there at the mo. Woah, this news came just in the nick of time :shock: I was just about to buy the 360(Jet engine) version but now i'll hold out and get the PS3 version Everytime you comment, I feel like taking a brick to your face. I'm sure I'm not the only one either. I implore people to rent/hire this game rather than buy it. I paid £40 for it if I remember rightly.. I took my time with it, and yet it still didn't last long enough for me.
I tried to play it through a second time but the experience was nothing like the same 2nd time round so I traded it in.

Been going off FPS lately (apart from COD4) and this may well snare me back as I really enjoyed System Shock. Good to see PS3 will get a worthwhile port for once, just hope it's done well and not rushed. If there is any tearing or Sixaxis integration I may cry. this is the one game that i have wanted to play from 360's line-up. i just read the reviews and it does'nt get the best rating. ill get it anyway cause my instinct tells me its good. figures that its coming now that we already have a ton of hot releases coming up.hey, its only money i guess, lol. Nice. I'll probably buy it again. Never finished it on Xbox 360 and have since given the console to my sister, so probably wont get the chance to.
It's a game I regret never completing, so I'm definitely up for another go, particularly if it's enhanced. Theres always one. Lets just hope this game runs better than other PS3 ports. We already know how well it runs on 360, so it'll look pretty terrible if it needs a 5gb install simply to load at the same speed as the 360 version, and has tearing, frame rate issues etc...
Not baiting the fanboys, just thinking outloud. There isnt exactly a great track record up to now porting to PS3. yeah but now there is a hole in the line-up where haze used to be.... Fantastic game. I got bored half way through and never finished it, but I think it was worth the price of admission for the first hour or 2 of it. doubt it will as its an unreal engine game and they seem ok on the ps3. depends who is doing it though, my money is on a 3rd party like valve did with the orange box. Seriously though, there hasn't been a good track record other than Oblivion being a tad better on PS3. Still, gives us hope, eh? That was uncalled for.
Anyway I missed the 360 version so can not wait to pick this up on the PS3. Firstly, I'm not sure how you took what I said as 'acting tough'.
Secondly, it doesnt anger me that you complained about the sound of your 360. It annoys me that 90% of your posts, wherever they are on CVG and whatever they're about, have at least one dig at 360 in them. Why not just dump it in a bin the next time you go out? You wont need to hate it so much then, huh? Played the pc demo it wasn't too bad. I will give this a try if and only if the conversion is anygood. But to be fair im not a huge fps fan so will mostly depend on when its out and what else is out. Forums are for discussion. There's nothing in my post that you can refute, because there were no statements in there. I don't see a problem in typing my thoughts. Thats what people usually do... otherwise forums would be pretty empty places.

As much as I love both of the current gen's I do not turn a blind eye to their flaws. That's what seperates me from the fanboys.
So until Microsoft fix the 360's flaws (Bad hardware), I will complain about them. Same goes for Sony and the PS3 (Poor software and code).
Anyway, back to the subject. They should employ the people who ported Oblivion to the PS3. To this day, it's still the best port I have ever seen and one of the VERY few that is actually quite superior to the original version. I have it on the 360 and the PS3 and the PS3's is quite shockingly better (Textures, framerates, loading times). I don't know who did it but they should be employed by every publisher LOL
And maybe even medals

and i thought the end cut scenes were terrible, what an anti climax :( It looks good, but it also looks scary and I don't like scary games. This is 360 game of the year for me. Any PS3 owner that hasn't played it BUY IT!!. I'm sure we all knew this would happen sooner or later.
I think it's great news for PS3 owners. It was easily one of the best games last year and deserves to be played by as many people as possible.
Hopefully any profit generated from this port can be invested into making the sequel/prequel a better game. Bioshock has it's moments, but ultimately falls far short of expectations and rarely steps beyond just being a shooter. It's shame as I was really hoping for a game to continue the legacy of the likes of Deus Ex and System Shock 2. Maybe Bioshock 2 when that eventually arrives will do it, but Bioshock isn't worth getting too excited about. :P sorry to say this but i did find bioshock a little dull sooner play black or goldeneye. half life and timesplitters are just has dull has bioshock. If you think Bioshocks the first decent game on PS3 you obviously dont play a lot of games. Well, you used to make good arguments when you complained at the lack of decent PS3 exclusives there were. But now it's just a bit of a piss take. Are you really saying that all multiplatform games are rubbish? Jesus.
And i'll certainly be buying this. I bought it on the PC, but therefore had to play it with settings on pretty much rock bottom, and the graphics weren't to pretty and the framerate was dodgy, which meant some of the atmosphere of it was lost. Can't wait to play it as it was intended. There goes the last reason to own a 360.
I knew this would come to the PS3, I said it were only a matter of time, but the xbots kept saying "it will never be ported over" before blowing the cocaine out from their noses.
This is a great game, it has been recommended by people whose opinion I trust and yeah CVG did give it a good review aswell.. :lol: Most people own it on Xbox or PC already, I can't see this being a wise business decision.
Other than that it is a great game and is well worth playing. id definitely encourage folk to rent bioshock, its far too short to pay full price for, especially as its SP only, and not like CoD4 SP where you'll still play it loads I Said it when it was a 360 exclusive and i'll say it now I'm not buying bioshock. Yeah, I mean.... Fable, Too Human, Gears of War, Ninja Gaiden, Dead Rising, PGR, Forza, Viva Pinata, Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, Halo, Halo Wars, Splinter Cell, Crackdown, Mass Effect... not one of those games/series' are worth buying a 360 for.
Cause it's quite clear that the PS3 has way more exclusives that are worth owning. I should burn my 360. Oh wait, it can do that on it's own since it's just a big, noisy, unstable box ready to melt, right? :roll:
:? :? :? OKAY! Um. okay...? What? Bollocks to it , bit late now ,can't be bothered I'm not really aware of Bioshock, I guess I'll have a read when the PSM3 issue in question is out. You're on a plane, you crash in the middle of the ocean, you find an underwater city called Rapture built by a man called Andrew Ryan. You get a radio which is used by a nice Irish fella called Atlas to help you get out of the situation you've found yourself in. Turns out Atlas doesnt exist, he's made up by a guy called Fontaine who was fighting against Ryan when Rapture was still a utopia. In the end you realise your crash was no accident. You're Ryan's kid, and he brainwashed you to do anything anybody says as long as they say 'would you kindly', and you kill Ryan with a golf club to the face while he's shouting 'would you kindly' at you. Then theres a bunch of weird stuff, Fontaine doses himself up on Adam (the esscence that the little sisters collect with the help of the big daddies) and you have a big boss fight. Depending on how many little sisters you harvested or saved, you get a good or bad ending.
If anyone moans that i've just spoiled the game, stfu. It's months old, and 'would you kindly' is now a long-gone internet meme. ;) LMAO that was funny! I see you have been underground for a while, because we have had COD4,GTA4 wich are the two best games out at the moment. plus MGS4, LBP and KZ2 will be out by then, so do some research. Already have it on 360 so not bothered, but its certainly good news for Ps3 only owners that have yet to experience this great game. Just another reason not to own a 360... jesus, no need to ruin it for those who havent played it, the story is the best bit. »
I'm of the belief that if people want something, they'll do what they can to get it. The game has been out almost 9 months now on two systems.. If people are too stubborn in their fanboy ways to play it on another system, then I have no sympathy for them.
Money issues, sure. Not everybody can own more than one machine - but I'm sure there are people they know, friends, family etc who own a 360 or a PC capable of running the game. There's no excuse not to play such a great game, to be honest. Terrific News. It will certainly make up for Haze! :lol: still, what is the point in ruining it for some people? i got it on PC as soon as it came out and i always suggest people get it but i would never tell them the whole plot like that, your argument is down the drain as people have no need to buy it now they know the outcome. »»

I have a PS3. And this is now on my wanted list. Glad to see it coming even when a few like myself knew it would be when they advertised for devs with PS3 experience, anyway this is on my to get list can't wait for it to arrive hopfully they have some PS3 exclusive stuff even if it's just plasmids This will start a flame war! I loved the story in Bioshock and ruining it is the gaming equivalent of shouting "He's already dead!" at the start of The Sixth Sense. DeadgoodUK - you're a donkey. Just cos you don't know anyone who has a PS3 doesn't mean it's not out there. I know 3 people with 360s, 6 with PS3s, 7 with Wiis, 1 of them own all, and all of us have PCs... WoW, surfing net, watching flicks, etc. So go figure. It was only a matter of time, I'm surprised it hasn't been announced sooner. As long as they don't release "exclusive" content to help boost sales, like other games did... Gears Of War, I'm looking at you... PS3 will probably dilute the experience with shonky analogue control and slow down city. :roll:
I jest, I jest. It is ok but nothing amazing. I bought it and am not really that impressed with it tbh. :) i'm not knocking bioshock, when it comes out i'll be getting it. but, haven't there been a stupid amount of "OMGF JIZZ BESEREST GAEM EVAR" releases recently? stop overstating things. cod4, gta4, bioshock, halo,3 uncharted, oblivion, god of war and gears are all great, but not THAT great. mgs4 on the other hand, looks to be the best game since shadow of the colossus. and subsequently, the best game ever. that out of the way, i'm glad i can play bioshock without spending more money on a console, as it looks ace. not one of the best of all time, but a great game of the now. |
