Athena Sword suffers further delay

Rainbow Six 3: Athena Sword, according to the latest Ubisoft release schedule, has suffered further delay. Originally due toward the end of 2003, then slipping to January 2004 then to February 2004, the expansion for the first-person tactical shooter is apparently now due on March 19 in Europe.

Reason for the new push-back is unknown, but speaking previously about the initial delays Ubisoft stated that the hold-up was a direct response to concerns about the Rainbow Six 3 franchise on PC voiced by the gaming community - it wants to deliver up to fans a quality product of the type that they have come to expect from the publisher. We can only assume that this still applies.

Athena Sword, when it finally arrives, will allow Rainbow Six 3 fanatics to engage with Team Rainbow as it takes the fight to dangerous terrorists in exotic locales in the Mediterranean. A new eight-mission campaign is to be accompanied by new multiplayer modes, additional weapons and more.
