16-Jul-2004 An average platforming couplet, courtesy of the dragon/bandicoot duo All the best things in life come in pairs: boobs, balls, legs, eyes, ears, twins, bandicoots and dragons. Yes, you read that right, old purple scales Spyro and crazy legs (and arms) Crash are getting together for some double team action.
Two separate games on two separate carts linked by a common storyline, similar gameplay, and trading cards that can be swapped between games. You'll have to buy both games separately of course, which cynics might say smells like cashing in on two beloved gaming heroes, but Spyro's too blissed out to care and Crash is too stupid, so let's forget about cold cash and focus on the fun factor.
Neo Cortex and Ripto, the heinous, deeply evil arch nemeses of Crash and Spyro, have teamed up and are planning to take over the universe. Again. Crash and Spyro set out on individual quests to stop the invasion. Rumour has it that they may eventually meet up in each other's game, but we wouldn't want to spoil the surprise! What we do know for sure is that the gameplay emphasis is placed firmly on completing five mini-games per level in order to open the portal to the next stage. In between there's all the usual 2D platform-hopping action we've come to expect from Crash and Spyro. It's all pretty simple. Crash collects Wumpa fruit, Spyro collects crystals, and they both jump over lots of spikes.
