The Regiment

Much like stablemate Rainbow Six: Lockdown, The Regiment pitches itself somewhere between arcade shooter and tactical squad-sim. You can make things harder for yourself by playing it as a conventional first-person shooter, or you can put into practice the 17 SAS training missions for a more tactical game.

Following a tutorial that's held in the SAS's real-life 'Killing House' you'll be sent on missions set in the Houses of Parliament and Trafalgar Square tube station. There's also a re-enactment of the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege - the one event, above all others, that cemented the SAS's ruthless-yet-effective global image. You'll play through each mission three times from different perspectives, with the route and overall objectives to each level changing accordingly.

The development team is keen to get across the unpredictable nature of SAS operations, regardless of the meticulous planning that's afforded to them. Expect terrorists to take hostages at random, try to disguise themselves as civilians and even feign death to avoid being shot/captured. Hostages can be just as dangerous too, especially if they panic, so you'll need to learn how to subdue them with handcuffs.

We're looking forward to shooting up our home town with our SAS mates. Prepare to lock 'n' load with The Regiment this November.
