23-Aug-2005 Webzen's brave new world and awesome online shooter revealed! Why can't all just get along for a change? Huxley's brave new world of MMOFPS weaves a tale of racial tension between humans and their mutant kin, the 'Alternative'. At the centre of their battle is a promising new energy source known as Lunarites, the only real substitute to rapidly depleting fossil fuels.
Unlike most online FPS titles, Huxley is a persistent world, meaning that it's running and evolving 24/7. The city in which the game takes place is a hub for socialising, trading and, most importantly, fighting.
Everything you do in this world directly affects not only your own skill and prosperity but the power of your entire race.
Developer Webzen has promised plenty of player versus player action, but is also throwing in a highly advanced AI-controlled race. These monsters can spring out of the shadows at any point in a battle, often turning the tide completely.
Graphically, the game bears many similarities to the Unreal series, particularly the human marines and their battle armour. Maybe it's partially because, like many other Xbox 360 games, Huxley is using the powerhouse Unreal 3 engine to get the job done. It's certainly a very fresh concept, and one we're looking forward to getting online with.
