Classic Sega downloads on Revolution?

Wednesday 21-Dec-2005 10:16 AM Nintendo's next-gen Revolution classic game backward compatibility's got Sega "intrigued"
We already know that one of the major features of Nintendo's next-gen Revolution is the machine's ability to download and play a whole heap of the company's classic games, via the wonders of emulation and the like.

We also know that Nintendo has been approaching other developers in the hope of securing a much wider library of titles to tantilise and tempt Revolution owners although, until now, it's been a bit of a mystery exactly who Nintendo plans to get involved.

Now however, Joystiq.com is reporting that NoA's charismatic Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed, during a Mario Kart DS tournament in the States, that none other than Nintendo's one time major rival Sega is "intrigued" by the Revolution's classic gaming functionality.

Frankly, the idea of getting our hands on Sega's formidable back catalogue straight out of the Revolution's box has practically turned us Sonic blue with glee. We still have a hedgehog-shaped hole in our hearts from having to sell our classic collection of Sonics, Eccos and Toejam and Earls in our student days.

While Sega has yet to confirm its involvement, we've got all feasible digits crossed that that "intrigued" will turn into a definite yes sometime soon.
