Fresh word whispered this morning on Assassin's Creed, the intriguing looking assassin-'em-up from Ubisoft, with company representatives apparently confirming to French site Xbox Gamer.net that the title is also in development for 360 and PC.
There have long been dark mutters and whispers behind the scenes that the Creed will be tapping up Xbox 360, but a PC version is a somewhat welcome surprise. The game debuted at this year's E3 with a lavish trailer setting the scene for a medieval romp through the Crusader era while offering tantalising glimpses of a modern backstory. Intrigued? We most certainly were.
According to the site, Sony may have a little exclusivity period in place so PC and 360 versions can be expected to follow after the PS3 iteration. But good news and trebles all around as this is one title which has us really very excited. More news as we get it, but check out our PS3 coverage of the title to learn more and see the movie trailer.
Well there seems to be contadiction as the offical Assassins creed website still says PS3 only, not only that but Ubisoft reps in forums are saying the article is bogus and that no other system has been confirmed for and it's still PS3 only, i would take the word of actual ubisoft reps in the forum than that of a website saying a rep told them.
In a way Trevor has a point why pay £400+ for a PS3 if the only game you want is Assasins creed you know Ubisoft will bring it to 360 & PC Ubisoft rarely if ever make a game solely for 1 platform & Assasins creed as good as it looks is still an unknown quantity unlike GTA & Resi that have a heritage & were already well known brands.
Bottom line to Joe Public why pay £400+ for this game when a 360 is nearly half that price & I bet that there will be hardly any differences between the 2 versions anyway if anything the 360 may be better because of a longer development period.

If someone is so desperate to play a particular game that they're willing to buy a console just for that game, it's highly doubtful that they're going to wait four months to a year for it to arrive on another platform.
And if there is no-one who wants to buy a PS3 simply for Assassin's Creed, then that would still mean Trevor's comment is complete b******s.

Given that almost all ports ever made are either just the same or, in many cases, worse than the original, that's not very likely.
Well I could buy the game for my PC anyway but it's nice to know that's 360 bound as well. That's one more reason for me not to rush out and buy a PS3 straight away (not that I had any intention of doing so anyway).

Ports don't quite work like that. Often they are done by a different team at a different (usually smaller) company over a shorter period. While they normally aim for the same quality and features, it depends on the developers and publishers ability and tighter deadlines.

As several sites reported during E3, the version being played at the show was running on the Xbox360 as reported by IGN, Gamespot etc. I read it myself during the shows reports. The reason being, that the Xbox360 version was further along in development than the others. It was an in-joke during the show because it was a 360 on Sony's stand. I can see Sony paying for a 2/3 month gap for their version. I can also see the Ubisoft rep getting sacked soon for letting it slip (i suppose after E3 he figured we all knew anyway).
It wasn't running on an Xbox 360 for gods sake people. It was on a PC emulating PS3 hardware.
And yeh this is sort of false confirmation, though I expect the confirmation to come soon. Not that it matters to me, I'm getting a PS3 at launch. (Hopefully won't be defective ^_^)
Now to all the people who said it wasnt coming out on 360, haha haha told you so, im looking at you moonblade.
This wasnt hard to guess anyway, ubisoft dont normally have exclusive games on a platform, they tend to release everything on everything, so then the 1st main reason to own a PS3 has vanished (according offical PS2 magazine), what what else will be confirmed for mulitplatform release, im betting lots....

Assassin's Creed is hardly the "1st main reason" to own a PS3. The real game worthy of that title is Metal Gear Solid 4, which is 100% PS3 exclusive. I personally would also place the 100% exclusive Ratchet & Clank 5 and Killzone 2 ahead of it.
Anyway, as I've already said in this thread and in at least one other, if a game has an exclusivity period on a single platform, then it later being released on other platforms is largely irrelevant. I strongly suspect both Assassin's Creed and Resident Evil 5 are both going to help PS3 sales, despite them coming out on other platforms several months later.
I already provided the examples of Resident Evil 4 and Vice City as non-exclusive games which greatly helped sales of their initial platforms, but for XBox kiddies the most obvious example is Halo. I mean, come on; do you honestly think it seriously harmed sales of the XBox version when it was revealed that Halo would also be released on the PC? Heck, I know people who bought an Xbox purely for Halo even after the PC version had been announced, all of whom had PCs which were perfectly capable of running the game.
Come to think of it, it's kind of hypocritical that the Microsoft fanboys would be making a big deal over the PS3 and its launch window games, given that the 360 *still* has precisely zero exclusive games that are even halfway decent.
Sony are going to need a few decent exclusives to persuade me into getting one as well as a 360. For me personally the exclusive game-to-genres on the xbox were superior.
However everyone should bare in mind how much of an unknown quantity GTA3 was before it landed and defined the last generation. Who's to say that PS3 will not gain another defining moment in this new gen that we have not forseen?.........as an xbox owner I had to wait 2 years to get my GTA fix.
This sony baiting I have seen going into this new era shows that they won't have it all their own way.......I for one will not be able to afford one as I'm a poor student and therefore they have lost a potential customer for at least a couple of years so I hope the 360 is the better option overall.
For the most part we should just wait and see, the proof is in the pudding. No one wants Microsoft to takeover as the all dominating force, I for one want to see a balanced war akin to the 16bit era lets hope Sony have got a few aces up their sleeve.
Oh and please let the wii do well, I'm willing to put my hand in my pocket to support the cause.

Moto GP 06, Rockstar Table Tennis, PGR3, Kameo, PDZ (not fantastic but definitely playable), Far Cry Instincts Predator, DOA 4 and not forgetting that Condemned had a period of exclusivity.

When i said 1st offical reason to own a PS3, i was going but what the offical PS2 magazine said in their lastest issue.
Resident evil 5 is coming out on both at the same time, but it isnt due to next year anyway, so it dosnt really count right now.
So you would put killzone 2 ahead of most other things as a reason to own a PS3, funny thing that since no one has seen anything of this game since sony ''faked'' the movie at e3 2005, the game has vanished from anywhere, so if you want to look forward to a game where the only thing showen of it so far is a rather good GCI video then be my guess, ME, i'll wait since the last killzone game was really pants.
As for metal gear solid 4, again i say this if you want to drool over this be my guess, im not gonna stop you, the video of it look cool, but alas i dont see where the gameplay is in, since it was one huge cinematic sequeence which keeps it in turn with the series of being a movie with gameplay bits bolted on because he had to.
When Resident evil 4 came out for gamecube, it was a gamecube exclusive, their was no mention of it coming out for anything else at that time, it was only after sales at platood that the game was annouced for PS2. Same thing happened with Vice City, PS2 sales went through the roof for the 6 months it took to bring it out on the PC, after that the sales return to a normal level, from the high they had been at. My point is both of these games were exclusive games at the time of their release on thier own platform, system selling games, they wernt non exclusive games, they appeared much later on other formats.
Xbox kiddies, what little repect i had for you vanished with that little childish comment.
As for Halo on the xbox, this game sold 10 million console around the world, and it took it 18 months after it came out on xbox to appear on pc, and by that time halo was far cheaper on xbox, and was still a reason to own the machine, on pc halo isnt a reason to buy a new pc or heck even bother turning one on to play, its a reason to have an xbox though.
As for no exclusive games that are half decent, lmfao with that comment.

Thats just the games that are out now, not any of the future ones coming out this year, and before you reply back saying half of them are on the pc, none of them are on any other console bar 360 for right now, a game can be a console exclusive at the same time as being a pc game aswell.
forgot to mention all the brilliant titles on live arcade aswell to boot, which you wont be seeing on anything other than 360....

Wrong. Resident Evil 5 is out on the PS3 the day of the console's release.

There are several MGS4 trailers (at least three), so I'm not sure which one you're reffering to. But if you read the previews and the like, the gameplay sounds fantastic. Also, which MGS titles have you actually played? Because a "movie with gameplay bits bolted on" certainly isn't an accurate description of the first two (sadly I haven't had a chance to play no. 3 yet, so I can't comment on that one).
My point is both of these games were exclusive games at the time of their release on thier own platform, system selling games, they wernt non exclusive games, they appeared much later on other formats.
Handily, most of my response to that happened to be in one of my earlier posts in this very thread:
- One hell of a lot of people bought a PS2 simply for Vice City, even after they knew it would eventually be on other platforms.
- One hell of a lot of people bought a GameCube simply for Resident Evil 4, even after they knew it would eventually be on other platforms.
Even four or five months exclusivity time is often all that's needed to make a difference.

Yes, multi-platform games are often said to better on one platform than they are others. And if a game is available on one platform several months before the others, there's a good chance it'll gain a reputation as being better on that first system than any other... even if that isn't actually true.
As for no exclusive games that are half decent, lmfao with that comment.

If you're going to talk about exclusive games, and *especially* if you're going to laugh at someone else for "getting the facts wrong", it's a good idea to CHECK YOUR OWN FACTS FIRST.
Saying that Oblivion is a 360 exclusive is one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard. Not only is it also on the PC, it's one of the most hyped games on the PC for the last two years .
Claiming that Call of Duty 2 is a 360 exclusive is pretty moronic too. It's on every other platform going: PC, Mac, PS2, GameCube, heck even the original XBox.
Thats just the games that are out now, not any of the future ones coming out this year, and before you reply back saying half of them are on the pc, none of them are on any other console bar 360 for right now, a game can be a console exclusive at the same time as being a pc game aswell.
As I said above, Call of Duty 2 is on every other console going. As for it still being exclusive even if it's also on the PC comment, that's sheer nonsense. With the occasional exception such as Halo, if a game is also currently available for the PC and an individual has a PC capable of running the game well, they're almost certainly going to go with the PC version.
Why? Because the PC version will cost them around £10 to £15 less, can be run with 3rd party mods, has the potential to look better (Oblivion on my Athlon 64 5000+ and Radeon X850XT PE simply pwns 360 Oblivion), and may well be more suited to keyboard + mouse than gamepad (most RPGs, almost all strategy games, and many FPS' in particular).
forgot to mention all the brilliant titles on live arcade aswell to boot, which you wont be seeing on anything other than 360....
Really? Hmm. Odd how I remember playing Gauntlet on my ZX Spectrum around 20 years ago, how my best mate at school was obsessesed with SmashTV on his SNES for ages, and that I just found a website claiming Frogger is available on 16 platforms.
Even weirder still is that many of these games we "won't be seeing on anything other than the 360", are said by Microsoft themselves to also be available on the original XBox...
So Sony lol lol lol sorry cant stop laughing , another reason why not to buy a ps3
Actually, another reason why you would rather buy a PS3 as the 360 version will look like crap compare to the PS3 version. We all know that the 360 is way weaker than the PS3 and will not be able to handle Assasin's Creed properly.

Actually on this one time will tell as when i got a 1800xt for my pc i got improved visuals but not that much and what i have seen with say gears of war and darn it that war game for ps3 but based in an alternate universe, but during ww2 with aliens. Was any different in what was better looking? But both looked cool same again with UT for PS3. So i guess what im trying to say that one version will be crappy is at bit off the mark at this moment . Like Halo3 was actually fully rendered and that was wow.
Oh and i aint anybodys fanboy only love great games!! Long live Nintendo hehehe
nb nmare 2: before you command someone check their facts I suggest you do the same.
1. The metal gear solid series has been widely lambasted for it's unbalanced cutscene to gameplay ratio. The second game was awful and turned into some moralistic b-movie at the end. I haven't played the third game because I was so turned off the series after such an incredible start with the first game.
2. Call of Duty 2 on the 360 is not the same as the game on the PS2 or Xbox, they are made by different people and are completely different games.
3.Console exclusive is that, exclusive to consoles. A high end pc will undoubtly be unmatched due to it's quick technology turnaround, but if you want to spend the price of a 360 every 1-2 years instead of 4-5 then so be it. I for one would much rather sit on a couch with a controller at a sensible range from the screen than right on top of it, knowing that all I have to do is simply put the disk in and press start. PCs and consoles occupy different spaces in the market, it's like comparing a showroom car to an arguably superior kit car....it's what you put in.
Claiming that Call of Duty 2 is a 360 exclusive is pretty moronic too. It's on every other platform going: PC, Mac, PS2, GameCube, heck even the original XBox.
If you're going to have a go at somebody for getting their facts wrong at least make sure you get your facts correct. Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 2: The Big Red One are not the same game. Call of Duty 2 does not appear on any console other than the 360.
Actually, another reason why you would rather buy a PS3 as the 360 version will look like crap compare to the PS3 version. We all know that the 360 is way weaker than the PS3 and will not be able to handle Assasin's Creed properly.
Cmon that is complete tosh. I got a PS3 with 10 games 2 pads, two of the games were GT3/4 cant remember which. And MGS2. Both the most dissapointing games ever. I had a Dreamcast which was far superior to the PS2 all it needed was a decent footy game, if Pro Evo Soccer was out the dreamcast wouldn't have died or died as quick anyway, plus the majority of the games were far superior.
MSR had a real sense of speed and full cities, Gran Turismo had no speed and rendered race tracks, the developers of vanishing point even said that the PS2 was no where near as good as the DC for those types of games and switched vanishing point to the DC. Remember the emotion engine, that never worked as they said. Something was mentioned somewhere that PS2 best for CGI, DC best for racing games and cell shading.
I had a PS2 for a couple of months only game worth playing was Pro Evo, xbox came out and bought that and it cained it.
PS3 one processor and a cell chip.
Xbox 360 3 processors and has got some sort of RAM in it that has got 256gb/c throughput. I'm sure someone will correct that statement. The cell isn't working great remember the screenshots showing the throughput a second, that was laughable.
Sony always under deliver. The PS1 without a doubt was brilliant, thats why they are where they are today the PS2 was s**te. DC, N64, XBOX 4 ports, PS2 2 ports. I mean are you kidding so what do they do make the PS3 support 8/9 pads, imagine playing that split screen, what a joke. The price is ridiculous again as it was with PS2, the main games people care about will be out on xbox 360. Fear 360 is going to be amazing as it is s**t hot on the PC. Xbox live, as everyone knows the future of gaming is online, the PS3 effort will be s**te, the xbox online was class and will only get better on 360 as they had a good run with xbox.
And to say Sony are innovative i have to disagree whole heartedly. Take a look at Bang and Olufsen then take a look at sony electricals. Pure rip off.
Everyone copies, thats the nature of the beast, if Castle Wolfenstien or Doom weren't successful do you think that the FPS genre would have taken off like it did. Eventually it would have but not straight away.
And then lets talk about the pics, videos whatever that have been released for PS3 its mainly all CGI and the video for Gran Turismo there is no sense of speed whatsoever, get PGR3 its fast and you race round full cities, GT you race round tracks and PGR3 still looks better.
Face it the only thing PS3 will be good for is CGI because thats what the majority of MGS and FF are.
Cell will go the same way as the emotion engine and then all you will have is one processor.
And another thing just because blueray holds 25gb or 50gb dual layer doesn't mean the games will be better, it doesn't mean the games will be bigger, it doesn't mean the games will look better. How many games are bigger than 8.5 gig now. Sony are pushing Blueray on PS3 because they don't want another betamax and this is the only way they will have a hope in hell of winning.
PS3 will sell loads because all the chavs will buy it thinking its the greatest thing ever like they did with PS2. Enjoy becuase for every 100 games that come out 1 will be good 99 will be cack as it was for PS2 and PS1 before that.
Say what you will because everyone knows the best gaming platform is the PC always will be, and the xbox and xbox 360 are very siomilar to PCs are very similar to program, and if John McCarmeck thinks 360 is the best platform then who can argue. Well apart from PS3 fanboys

I cant believe it someone remembers that emotion engine crap or should i say lies, i for one refuse to play games on a pc because of my beliefs, for me a pc is for work on, the lenth of time i spend playing games on console are long enough, so i say away from temptation by refusing to play game on the pc although it most advance platform. I can tell you this i'll by PS3 from some secondhand shop £50 or less, i have almost completed Oblivion and i have been playing it for 258hrs. PS3 Has power, but power isn't everything the 360 is more rounded the developer will be able to get more out of the 360 because a better dev kit, PS3 is like a sledgehammer you have to learn how to use it or you'll end up hurting yourself, the 360 has flexible , the PS3 don't that is why you may fine that a lot of game that are meant to exclusive to PS3 won't and in fact it may even be easy to port game from the 360 to the PS3 than the other way round, devs are more like to work on what best first and using what ever short and apply it to a more on compromising hardware, the DC dead because the devs were exspect the same support fro Sony, Sega do not have the financial backing to compete against Sony but MS has and as you can see Sony were determin to take control of the home intertainment center, by entering into the PC environment MS fore saw the danger from Sony, i believe this is why MS intertainment was formed, Sony enter the PC/Laptop environment, and this has given MS the opportunity to enter there's. i maybe wrong. I just can believe someone else remembers that emotions engine crap.
