Zelda GC bumped by the Wii

GameCube version of Twilight Princess not ready for Wii launch, as originally mooted
Nintendo's GameCube version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess won't ship concurrently with the launch of the Wii - in America at least.

It has been delayed, but the news isn't all that bad: it will reach the US on December 11 (a fortnight after the Wii's launch). Given that the Wii is launching in the UK on December 8, that would appear to make it a bit touch-and-go as to whether Twilight Princess for the GameCube will make it into the shops in time for Christmas on these shores.

Could the GameCube Twilight Princess delay be some sort of added inducement for us all to go out and buy Wiis? Anyway, it's not much, but we can offer you some consolation: a new screenshot from the Wii version of the game which surfaced at Nintendo's big Wii launch announcement last week.

I wouldnt be suprised if the Gamecube version never reached these shores. I'm more than expecting it to be a USA release only.

just a trampy and evil way to sell their wii consoles as they know people can just buy a gamecube for £20-30 and buy the gamecube version of the game

well i won't be getting a wii and the only reason my cube is still out is for the arrival of twighlight princess i have one other game and that the special edition zelda disc so it better be comming out or ... or ... else ... well actually i'l just cry!

It is obvious they're delaying the GC version to maximise Wii sales in its first week.
Well i will be getting a Wii but i was planning on grabbing the GC version of Twilight Princess because the Wii control system for it looks a bit naff.

It better be or I'll be very angry with Nintendo.

Completely disagree with the comments on the graphics looking ps3 quality -
I'm getting a wii and i'm not expecting the graphics to be Xbox 360 or PS3 quality....obviously.... but the difference is indeed noticable, there's no point in bluffing or lying...

Mine too. As Twilight Princess was designed and built around the Gamecube's strengths, not the Wii's, I have doubts as to how well the Wii controller operates in this game. Reports are already going around about how the control system has been changed since E3. Had the game been designed with the Wii in mind from day one, it would be a different matter.

I'm getting bloody p**sed off with Nintendo now! First no region free console and now this! And I haven't even touched on the price of the console. Damn them!!! The game should have been out last year for **** sake! Guess I'll just have to import my GC Zelda then. Thank god for Freeloader!

You could be right. The GC seems to be dead here in the UK and it would probably make sense to Nintendo to save the effort and not bother.

Well looks like they will now although a later mid-december launch.

Thats great. It will give many people a chance to play the game who dont wish to purchase the Wii at this time...or people who hate the Wii control scheme for the game...
