Coded Arms Assault

PS3 hacked as we go ballistic in Konami's cyberspace shoot-'em-up
Cyberspace is where you go to chat up 21-yearold nymphomaniacs (they're really middleaged blokes, you know), not overthrow an evil corporation hellbent on world domination.

That's the unlikely premise behind Coded Arms Assault, a companion piece to the PSP game that, if nothing else, was historically the handheld's first first-person shooter.

As a hacker in a world governed by the loopy laws of virtual reality, you'll be able to do things not ordinarily possible in the 'real' world. Things like downloading new weapons on the spot as and when you need them, unleashing deadly viruses on enemies, and hacking to find bonus items and keep tabs on certain enemies.

Thanks to some destructible environments, we're also promised a game that isn't your average cyberspace shoot 'em up. Strategically directed explosions can be used to send sharp debris slicing through targets, and the heavyduty weapons make light work of an enemy's cover. Land and air vehicles put in occasional appearances, too.

Best of all, the entire single-player campaign can be played through in a small team, while having a go at the deathmatch and team games on specially created maps could net you bonus multiplayer stuff.

Screenies look nice, and the description could open up some new freeform gameplay elements. Wonder if it'll live up to the hype as an early PS3 title though...
