It took ultra-keen Nintendo hawks just seven minutes to completely exhaust Amazon UK's allotted Wii pre-orders yesterday, making it the fastest selling product in the site's history, Amazon has revealed.
"The response was phenomenal", James Schall, Amazon games manager, told gamesindustry.biz. "It's the fastest-selling pre-order item we have ever encountered - even eclipsing Harry Potter and Coldplay." If you managed to get your pre-order in on time give yourself a pat on the back.
Amazon UK chose to take pre-orders for Wii only after receiving allocation figures from Nintendo, to ensure being able to meet all orders placed.
Amazon did not disclose how many pre-orders were made available, but said that it expects more consoles around the December 8 launch.
HAHA. I was one of these people who got one from here. I sat in front of my computer refreshing the page since 9. They got put on the site at about half 9. I give myself a very big pat on the back
Why are people pre-ordering online? It's not any cheaper yet is it? If not, then it makes sense to find a shop that is still taking preorders and then turn up 15 minutes before the shop opens on the morning of the 8th. That's what I'm doing. Means I don't have to wait around for the postman and they can't guarentee that you'll even get it on the day unless they deliver it themselves.

That's a good point. Maybe some people can't find a shop with pre-orders left.
There will be nobody in the house when the postman comes on December 8th, so I would have to go to the post office to collect it. However, as I've preordered from GAME, I am collecting it on my way home from uni!

On the release of the 360 i was at Gamestation at midnight. I was lazier with the Wii and just left it till the last minute and they had massive pre order lists. So a friend told me about Amazon and i tried. I missed my first lesson at college so i could pre order from here.
i got my preorder in at 09:37 and got a confirming email at 09:38. Did i definately get one. I was refreshing the page from 09:00 and the first time it came up was 09:37.

Many online sites like Game will send the consoles out for next day delivery (before noon). I ordered the 360 online and it arrived on the launch day. I've pre-ordered a Wii from Game and have been notified by e-mail that I'll get it on launch day. It beats paying for bus fare into town to buy one, plus it's free postage and packaging.

Mine was about the same time. But my confirmation email came through at 11.06. We definately got them if the confirmation email came through.
Sweet dude. Me an u are gonna be playing zelda on the day. Separately, obviously, i dont know you. But we both love nintendo so does that not make us brothers. Does it not?

AHAHAHAHAH. Yes i think we are now brothers. I might get Red Steel over Zelda though. I Wana use my remote to shoot people down.
i think u better go read the reviews then bro cos they're pretty crap, go for call of duty 3. Im a bit disappointed in red steel i expected it to do better. But even when you see videos it looks ridiculous to control.
I ordered mine straight away on Play and then they took weeks to tell me I wasn't getting it and now I can't get one anywhere.... but my mate who ordered his 4 weeks after me at gameplay has had his confirmed for launch.

Not all Red Steel reviews are crap. I just got my ONM in the post today. I don't know if I should say exactly what Red Steel got as officially the magazine isn't out until tomorrow, but I'll say it was VERY HIGH indeed. This has always been my most wanted game, and there is no way I won't get it at launch.
My girlfriend tried (and failed) to get a pre-order one from Amazon. It was supposed to be a Christmas gift for me (bless her). Disheartened, we did some web searching that evening, and pre-ordered it from Argos of all places, and its guaranteed for day of release.
For those of you that have missed out on pre-orders, don't give up hope yet. Go for places that aren't immediately obvious - Dixons, Argos, Woolworths etc rather than specialised shops and websites. I have no doubt you'll still manage to get one, and as prices seem to be across the board, what does it matter where you get it?

Wow, what a surprise. The Official Nintendo Magazine gave an exclusive game a high score.... That almost never happens!
<sense the sarcasm>
Seriously dude, take all ONM reviews with a HUGE pinch of salt. They give the most bias reviews ever. Stick to 3rd party reviews or websites - or better yet, check out a few of these sources. If several places say a games crap, and one says its good, its likely that the games not that great unless it really appeals to ya.
