South Park, CSI and more now on Xbox Live

The first wave of TV shows and movies are available for download from today on Xbox Live Marketplace. If you live in the US, that is.
As promised US Marketplace now has television shows to own and movies to rent from CBS, MTV Networks, Paramount Pictures, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, with more content hitting Xbox Live Marketplace every week.

Pricing for the content differs depending on format, media type and whether the content is a new release or a classic feature film. HD TV shows weigh in at 240 Microsoft points (2.04 GBP), while the standard definition equivalent is almost 100 cheaper at 160 Microsoft points (1.36 GBP).

New release movies in HD weigh in at 480 Microsoft points (4.08 GBP) and SD new releases are 320 points (2.72 GBP). 'Classic feature films' meanwhile cost 360 points (3.06 GBP) in high definition and 240 (2.04 GBP) in standard def.

Once you've rented a movie you've got a period of 14 days within which to watch it, however once you start viewing the content it will expire after 24 hours.

It should be noted that all of these prices are for the folks over the pond and will likely change when the content eventually reaches our shores.

There's currently no word on when us in blighty will get Xbox Live movie and television content, but we'll be sure to let you know when Microsoft returns our call.

Here's the full list of content hitting the US marketplace today:

- CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, NCIS and Star Trek from CBS

- Chappelle's Show, Drawn Together and Emmy and Peabody award-winning South Park from COMEDY CENTRAL

- Pimp My Ride and Punk'd from MTV

- Avatar: The Last Airbender and SpongeBob SquarePants from Nickelodeon

- Skyland and Invader Zim from Nicktoons Network

- Chinatown, Star Trek VII: Generations, Patriot Games, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, The Sum of All Fears, The Untouchables and We Were Soldiers from Paramount Pictures

- Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Frisky Dingo, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, Sealab 2021 and The Venture Bros. from Turner Broadcasting

- Some of the most intense fights from Ultimate Fighting Championship

- Breaking Bonaduce and Hogan Knows Best from VH1

Sounds ok, Just a lazy version of Blockbuster, like Sky Box office.

£1.50 per TV episode is a bit steep tho if you want to watch a whole 24 episode series. They should do a 'Season ticket' for about a tenner

I'll need one now that I see Invader Zim on the list. I've got every episode on the pc already but I'd love the HD versions. And South Park too.
