The UK version of the Wii Virtual Console has just gone live, and we've discovered a few significant changes from the its North American counter-part.
Apart from the puzzling swap of all of the game graphics, the UK version of Nintendo's download service has one title that those chaps across the pond can't get their hands on; the excellent SNES platformer Donkey Kong Country.
However it's not all good news for UK Wii owners; the recent US update to the Virtual console which added Donkey Kong Jr., Victory Run and Mega Drive titles Ristar and Columns - with the exception of Victory Run - doesn't seem to have made its way to our shores.
Nintendo UK was unavailable to comment on when we'll be getting these currently US-only Virtual Console titles, but we'll be sure to let you know when they get back to us.
So Nintendo UK was "unfortunately available to comment" were they.... Interesting typo there as it completely negates the rest of the article as it implies Nintendo UK were available for comment but in an unfortunate manner.
As for the news about DKC?? All I can say is w00t w00t, to hell with the rest of the stuff we don't get, we get DKC PARTAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!
A bit disappointing, but I doubt I'll be using the VC anyway.
Until the prices make their way over to this side of sanity (the good side), I'm going to use the VC as nothing more than inspiration for new ROMs to download.
I think Donkey Kong Country will be my first VC title i'll buy. I never owned the original but I did however have the GameBoy version, 'Donkey Kong Land'. I hope that means they'll give us Donkey Kong Country 2,3 in the future.
Am I the only one who thinks DKC and all its sequels were rubbish?
I'm not too bothered about the VC at the moment. They aren't doing what they could with it which is very disappointing. The full potential of VC is the ability to release games on it that we never had. Do companies no realise this could be a nice little earner if they put a little effort into it?
i loved donkey kong country. my next door neighbour had a snes and i had a megadrive but he use to invite me round to complete all his games(from start to end!) cause he couldnt play them. Happy times when i completed that and sky blazer <---- awesome game. He also forced me to complete all the mario lost lvls and mario star things. Think completed lost stars twice in a row. That was when i was good at games. I am only excellent now.

I never got into donkey kong games either.
And new games have been commented on by Iwata.
Paying for games that you probably already have, that you can download for free on the internet is a rip off.

Thats quite disturbing. you should talk to someone about that
i got donkey kong country when it came out on november 18th 1994. It was for my birthday and the interesting thing is donky kong country came out here in the UK before it did in Japan or the USA. its a good game with great music. 2 and 3 are a bit average though.
the orignal game was pal optimised so no silly boarders.
