The internet was aflutter with rumours this weekend, as reports speculated that the massive PlayStation 3 Metal Gear Solid instalment, Guns of the Patriots was stealthing its way over to Xbox 360 - rumours that Konami has since debunked to CVG.
"Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time," a Konami representative told CVG, reiterating that the Hideo Kojima stealth-em-up was still "exclusive to PlayStation 3."
The original internet report pointed at the MGS instalment branching-out onto multiple platforms due to Konami's concerns that there won't be enough PS3s in gamers' hands by the time it hits shelves.
Though going by the company's official word, it looks like there'll be no Solid Snake action on Microsoft's console for the time being. We wouldn't totally rule out a 360 version in the long term, but you can bet the game will be exclusive to PS3 for at least a year.
We'll be sure to pipe up if Konami flips its stance.
Oh well, looks like I'll have to wait a year to play it then.
I'm sure, Bioshock, Lost Planet, GTA IV, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Crackdown, Halo Wars, Assassins Creed, Forza 2, Half Life 2, Fable 2, Kane & Lynch, Banjo & Kazooie 3, Guitar Hero II & Alan Wake will keep me busy.

goddamn boy, u just brightened up my day....s**t now i have to go and earn the money to pay for all of those lovely games...whats that? Its my day off? AWOOOHOOOO!
I guess those of us in Europe will have to wait almost a year to play it either way... (assuming that the rumours regarding the launch delay prove to be right)... You never know, the 360 version (if there is one next year) may be out before the PS3 finally puts in an appearance. Either that or Konami may get around the exclusivity issue by releasing a remarkably similar game under a different name (MGS5 perhaps) - just like RR6 & RR7
Maybe. Like Metal Gear Solid 4 Superspecialsubduedsubsistence, now with 30% more cutscenes! Total estimated play time 15 minutes. Results may vary based on skill.
I think that making MGS4 PS3 exclusive is going to hurt Konami more than it's going to help Sony...
Completely agree! And that’s why I think it will make its way over to 360 in time. After the hype of it has died down they will port it over with extras and stuff. It must be coasting millions for Konami to make and it would be foolish to not release it on the 360 as well.

yet,not ALL of them exclusive to 360 tho p.s im absolutely gutted about bioshock mind (ah well i'll get it on me PC)
It will hit the 360, no doubt about that. Its all to do with Money. Resi 4 got ported from cube to PS2 (damn good job they did of it as well). That was one of the Cubes big hitters and Im quite sure Ninty would have liked to keep it exclusive.
To be fair, the only real title I want on the PS3 is Final Fantasy XIII.
I guess I will probably pick up a PS3 some time before the end of next year when hopefully this and a few PS3 exclusives hit the shelves (providing Sony don't delay the launch until November 07 else forget it).
Have to be honest, the PS3 line up looks so thin on the ground over the next 12 months, I cannot for the life of me see many people picking a unit up without some serious software backing.
After all, you have to a few titles for bragging rights alone! Don't really think Motor storm and Fall of Man will be enough some how, with PGS4 and Halo 3 smacking it out.
I wouldnt expect a new series of Gran Turismo until 2008 (despite the fact the series is beginning to feel a little "samey". Other than Devil May Cry (which I didnt like the earlier versions) and whatever Square-Enix throw at it. Theres nothing!
But....MGS4 is almost certainly on the cards for the 360.

No, not all of them are exclusive, but alot of them will be released on the 360 before the PS3 over here thanks to Sony's delays.
360 owners will have quite alot to look forward to over the next 12 months.
Who wants to play that crap anyway,if its anything like the the ones before, forget it.if thats the best PS3 has got hahahahahahahahahaha, poor little fanboys,if i want too watch a film i'd go to Blockbuster and pay Ł3.00.Not Ł50.00
Well I see some of the Sony fanboys are already getting their knickers in a bit of a twist over this rumour.
Well I saw this coming a mile away as more & more people seem to be displeased with sony & once a lot of the hype or should I say bulls**t surrounding PS3 dies down a lot of people will realise that there is not much difference between ps3 & 360 except the biggest difference being price.
MGS 4 on 360 is bound to happen at some point Konami are in business to make money & I doubt that they will want to miss out on making a shedload of cash from a 360 version.
This has happened a countless number of times in the past. Unless a direct agreement is made with a certain system ahead of time (like when the first Splinter Cell was publicly known as a time exclusive) a publisher will never talk about future ports of the game until the current version has shipped and sold for a while. EA and Criterion last year denied several times that Burnout Revenge was coming to the Xbox 360, saying they had no plans for the game on the Xbox 360. We all know that Burnout Revenge then came out on March 7th, 2006 for the Xbox 360. The reason they denied the game's existence was because the Xbox version had just come out in September, and they didn't want to kill the potential sales numbers.
IGN: July 19, 2005 - An Electronic Arts spokesperson told IGN today that a version of Burnout Revenge will ship to Xbox 360 in 2006, countering previous statements made by the company.

It's a similar situation with Konami/Kojima and MGS4, but even more complicated. Kojima and Kutaragi, the father of PlayStation, have a close relationship, and both are loyal to Sony. Unfortunately for Kojima, Konami is not publishing MGS4 for fun, and they will be seeking to profit on the game, which will cost tens of millions to develop and produce. Unless the PS3 has a huge lead over the Xbox 360 this time next year, Konami will be having Kojima put the game on the Xbox 360 as well, and I'm sure all the parties involved already know that, but will absolutely not publicly discuss anything about this for some time to come.
For the time being however, I wouldn't bother trying to reason with people who will insist the game is exclusive to the PS3. Time has shown time and time again that these situations have the conclusion I have detailed above. Just know that you have common sense, and that the ignorant do not.

When Kojima announced MGS4, he said he was only interested in developing that game for PS3 as he was still a bit miffed that Substance didn't do as well as he hoped on XBox.
He did say that he would rather make games individual to each system instead of ports, so an offshoot of MGS may appear on 360.
I think MSG4 should be made exclusive to PS3, because many games such as gears of war, lost planet and the halo3 is made exclusive for the X360, and that really p**sed me off. i think all games should be multi-platformed.
with my xbox 360 and amazing games out and comin out i can happily live without MGS4 cut scene edition or what ever the piece of crap will be called.lets face it.its hyped up to bollox then ends up being bollox.90% cutscenes 10% playable game.
They can’t say it won’t ever happen because they don’t know how the PS3 will do yet, how well it will be accepted. If the price stays high for a long time it won’t sell as well as other’s – Sony has never been in this positions before, last to market with the competition doing very well indeed while they seem to be getting criticized for everything they do. If MGS turns a profit on PS3 then it might not see the light of day on the Xbox360 but there aren’t many PS3 out there and they seem tricky to make and they cost a bomb! I’d be interested to know how many PS3 copies of MGS4 need to sell before it starts to make money. I bet it needs to sell a lot more copies than there are PS3’s.
Sometimes in these situations the console maker will pay the games maker a large sum of money to cover any losses they may suffer from not releasing the game on other platforms. It arguable now though that MGS4 would make more money on 360 than on PS3 as 360 has a higher installed user base. Of cause that might have changed by the time MGS4 comes to market. But if it doesn’t the sum Sony would need to pay out would be huge, and aren’t Sony in a bad financial situation anyway?
But all these if’s, but’s and maybe’s are precisely why Konami haven’t said it will never be ported to 360.

If all games were multi platform then there wouldn’t be any need for multiple platforms. That would be bad for progress and prices.
