Tekken 6 touted for Xbox 360

Rumours suggest a multi-platform branch-off for Namco's sixth fighting instalment
Hot on the heels of Virtua Fighter 5's official announcment for Xbox 360 and rumours of a 360 version of Metal Gear Solid 4, gossip that another PS3 title - in this case beat-'em-up Tekken 6 - is Xbox 360-bound has hit the 'net.

The rumours are attributed to an "IGN insider source" - supposedly the same chap who broke the news of Virtua Fighter 5's 360 conversion - reporting that Namco is currently working on both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Tekken 6 to be released this winter.

When we reached for the CVG news phone Namco was unfortunately unavailable for comment, but following the likes of Assassin's Creed and many other previously PS3-only titles' move into multi-platform, we wouldn't be surprised if Namco's much-anticipated fighter ended up on Xbox 360 as well.

File it as a rumour for now, but we'll let you know when Namco confirms or denies the news in an official statement.

namco's best fighting series is soul calibur, tekken is awful always has been. VF5 on xbox 360 im happy now i dont need a ps3 until it is below Ł300.

I don't care about Tekken, but I do know that Sony is losing ANOTHER trump card. Which is good Cool
Dinalfos on 2 Jan '07
I hope (and believe) that Namco is developing the next chapter of Soul Calibur for Xbox 360. Tekken, well, it's Tekken.

Ditto

BRING IT!

tekken has remained faithful to the playstation since ps1. it originated on the playstation so i really doubt if namco would bring it on any other console other ps3.
a few days there was this new (read:speculation/hope) that dmc4 will be making its way on 360, which i doubt would ever be true cuz during tgs 2006, dmc4 director kobayashi clamied that the effects shown could only be done on the ps3, here is the link http://ps3.ign.com/articles/734/734457p1.html
As for mgs making its on xbox 360 then kojima has already said that 360 in his studio means no change!!! that pretty much sums it all up.

i am also highly skeptic about the 360 version of the virtua fighter and how will it make its transition from the lindenbergh original to the xbox ALOT less powerful gpu/cpu... but we;ll see!

One thing is certain though, developers and publishers are getting nervous about the PS3. With Sony having so many problems releasing sufficient consoles onto the market, developers are worried that by releasing a game solely on the PS3, they're unlikely to make any profit. That's why so many are also developing for the 360. With a user base of between 7 and 10 million (depending on who you talk to) developers have a much better chance of selling enough copies of their game to make a profit.

Though the likes of Tekken and Devil May Cry 4 are just rumours at the moment, unless Sony starts pulling it's finger out, rumour may just turn into fact.

Namco doesnt support actively the Microsoft consoles ....I doubt this to be frank .
Diomedes1977 on 2 Jan '07
I see some sony loyalists already doubting this will happen & saying how 360 may have trouble handling certain titles.

Well after getting Gears of war for Xmas I think that 360 would have no trouble in bringing any of the PS3 games I have seen to date to MS console without losing much if anything in the transition.

People said the same about the Megadrive & SNES saying that the MD could not handle SF2 etc & we all know that was a load of tosh & that the Megadrive turned in 2 brilliant conversions of SF2 that rivaled the snes version in all but sound quality.

I think Tekken may well follow VF5 onto 360 but I dont really care much for Tekken as VF is miles better anyway.

Actually the Xbox 360 has the far better GPU as proven by countless articles/docs/forum posts from developers. The PS3 has the better CPU though. So they're pretty even in power. In any case, please stop spreading Sony lies/propaganda/hype.

Money is the name of the game. I think namco is pushing sony to pay them some more money for their exclusives, cause they propably don't like the idea of going broke. (Who can blame them)

Personaly I think it's a good development cause this way more gamers can enjoy tekken.

POWER TO THE GAMERS

I'll add it to the believe it when I see it pile of rumors there are currently flying around.

Ridge Racer was always a Playstation Namco branded game & that came 2 the 360, so i dont see why Tekken wont come to the 360...even though they are both pretty s**t games, but if its one in the eye 4 the Sony fannies, then... bring it on!.

Are you serious? DMC4 is not a just a rumor, it has already been confirmed for months, and apcom released a press statement saying so a LONG time ago. NAMCO's Tekken started in the Arcades first, then came to the PS1. Namco is a third party company, they ca nrelease any game on any platform if they so choose so. Ace Combat (made by Namco) was a series born on the home console of the PS1, and now 6 is exclusive to the the 360. What about Ridge Racer? The game that is constantly out with a new Playstation. .

MGS4 and FF13 and Versus 13 are complete rumors at this point, but one of the games in the FF13 series (there are a lot of them) is going to go to the 360 (they are going to all platforms, including the mobile phone)

I cant believe you just said the 360 has a crappier GFX card then the PS3. Anybody that knows anything knows anything knows the GFX card of the 360 is superior to the PS3. 512MB of Unified Ram is better than the 256+256 the PS3 is packing. Only the Cell is more advanced than the 360's processor and even then, we are going to keep hearing excuses from blind fanboys "bu bu teh cell is hard to program for!!!". If its so hard...whats the point?

Before you label me a fanboy, I have both consoles, send me a message at eujo on PSN and euj0 on Xbox Live if you don't believe me.
