Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has shot down alleged 'leaked' information on a PSP2, saying flatly "There is no PSP2".
Reports hitting the internet yesterday featured a supposed image (which you can see here) of a new version of the handheld, saying the codename for the machine is Cobalt.
Reports said it featured the likes of dual analogue thumbsticks, an improved display, an 8Gb flash drive, wifi and Bluetooth support and an in-built camera that lets users stream live video to PS3 over wifi. But it's all just wishful thinking, it seems.
Who's been having fun with Photoshop in their bedroom then?
I should hope not. The last thing we need is another console over a year late, sporting an unpopular media type and costing the GDP of a small African nation.
Sony says "There is no PSP2, were skipping that and making a PSP3- IT WILL BE READY FOR OUR WORLD WIDE LAUNCH IN 2009,AND WILL LAUNCH IN EUROPE IN 2011."

There will be one at some point though but those images were just s**te.
Yup. And even if they were real (which they blatantly weren't) Sony would never admit to there being a PSP2 in development until it's ready to be shown and distributed.
DS > PSP (I traded my PSP for a 360 and loadsa games) Wii > PS3 I've got a Wii, 360, DS, PS2 and a PC. Surely I won't need a PS3 (I only got the PS2 for guitar hero and singstar).

Also why didn't sony put 2 analogue sticks on the original PSP, thats so f**king dumb, its like looking at all of your games on PS2/xbox etc and saying hmmmm yeah, lets take away an analogue stick to like ya know....really f**k everyone over - high five!
The probably changed their mind after they realised that they can't just dominate a section of the market by just releasing a console that says Sony or Playstation. Despite it's impressive sales (considering it's a downgraded PS2 in your hand) it hasn't made the impression that Sony had wanted.
However, they'll prolly just change their mind. You know how decisive they are (*cough European PS3 launch *coughs)
Most people complain about the PSP because they are gamers and believe that handhelds should be used solely for gaming and not music, storing documents, etc. The psp was an attempt to make a device which looked stunning and did a lot, but ultimately had severe setbacks. The fact that everyone says "The psp sucks" entertains me. Giving such a grand generalization about a device that I am sure some people enjoy is silly to me.
The fact that people are already complaining about the ps3 obfuscates me. I don't understand why people are obsessed about rumble when it does nothing, or how they can compain about a lack of library for something that has just released. I don't think Sony would be dumb enough to start developing a psp2 at this point, and if they were they would not release any information.
Yes there is, Sony just aren't going to announce it until it is complete. Or maybe what they mean is that there is no proper sequel, only a small redesign, although I can't see people buying one unless it has two analogue sticks. If there isn't one, then why are Sony sending questionaires to PS underground, asking them if they would buy a new PSP if it had video output and a hard drive?
Personally I predict two new models. One which is simply a remake, but with extra shoulder buttons and two analogue sticks, along with bluetooth, a hard drive and a video output. The other design would be a Mylo styled PSP, with a keyboard sliding out from underneath the same front. I also think that this larger model would have a touch screen, but only for uses as a PDA.
Remember that patent Sony filed last year, about that liquid that could be solidified if it had electricity passed through it. I think that could be used to make the analogue sticks rise up out of the PSP2.
Just a thought, probably everything that I have said is rubbish.
