As if it's not already almost-certainly being tinkered with behind the scenes, Epic games has hinted at a sequel to its multi-million selling shooter Gears of War, in an interview with CVG.
Speaking at last week's Midway Gamers' Day in Las Vegas, Unreal Tournament 3 producer Jeff Morris joked that Epic may be the victim of its own success: "It's funny because I think Gears started after a lot of people were a little fatigued working on UT, and now they're all probably making Gears for the rest of their lives, so the shoe has turned.
"I read somewhere that every sequel sells 10 percent less or more than the previous did," Morris continued, "and yeah we'd love to sell another 3 million copies of another Gears product. Success is an addiction."
So there will be a second Gears of War then? "If people want another one I'm sure there'll be another one but there are certainly no announcements." And yes - we do want another one.
Check back later today for the full interview, where the UT3 producer spills on his latest shooter instalment, the Xbox 360 port and of course, more Gears of War.
I'd hope that Microsoft would crack the whip a bit and get gears 2 and 3 out in 2008, 2010. Doing alternate years with HALO games really. That way MS gets a mega game each year and we get to chainsaw/plasma grenade people till the 360 is replaced.
I dont see how they can improve gears much as the graphics, AI, weapons, cover system and almost everything is better than on any other game. I do think they could make it a bit less inear and sniper headshots should kill computer enemies in one.

would be a great idea.
Gears is an amazing game. However I can think for a few thinks that would be fantastic improvements. 4 Player CO-OP for the normal campaign, 8 v 8 death match modes, or even better a ranked clan match. Nothing worse than playing against complete strangers in a game that demands tactics for successful online play.
Hell the only other game they seem to be famous for is UT. They've been making those since the lates 30s it seems. The fact they have another valuable franchise should make them happy.
