Rumours of an Xbox 360 version of Ninja Gaiden Sigma have been smacked down by the game's director.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma is the upcoming remake of the awesome Ninja Gaiden Black that launched to critical acclaim back on Xbox a few years ago.
Yes, we're MASSIVE fans of the game (second best Xbox game behind Halo in our book) and can't wait to see what Tecmo has planned for the sequel. We might even play the original over the weekend again to remind ourselves.
But before that there'll be Ninja Gaiden Sigma on PS3. And only PS3, by the looks of it. In an upcoming interview with director Yosuke Hayashi, he told CVG that whispers of a secret 360 version already in development were nothing more than rumours.
Hayashi said, "I would take that rumour as proof that people's expectations for Sigma must be very high. But it is just a rumour." So nothing at the moment, but it doesn't sound like an outright flat denial to us.
Look out for our full interview with Ninja Gaiden Sigma later today.
Well seeing as both the original Ninja Gaiden and the remixed NG Black are both backward compatible on the 360 and looking very nice upscaled to 720p with anti-aliasing added, I'd say that the Xbox 360 really does *NOT* yet another version.
So what you're saying is that it WILL be coming to the 360 but $ony have splashed the cash in order to stop the developers talking about it until the exclusivity period is over.
AS hades already said the 360 doesn't really need a whole new version for a few extra's when both the originals are backwards compatible on the machine already.
I am quite happy to wait for the real Ninja gaiden 2 on 360 instead of another remake of the original, but that said I can see them probably releasing sigma on 360 somewhere down the road especially if PS3 does not shift enough units.
In the interview the Director says there's a LOT of new stuff. Sounds a bit more than a PS3 port.
It's the first PS3 game I'm interested in
Won't feel right on that pad though...
Thats as maybe but I dont think they will justify in excess of £500 for the console & games & extra controller to play a beefed up Xbox game though especially if you have already played through Black on the original xbox or 360 with backwards compatability.
I really don't want to break 45 million in Missions again (farming sucks too much time) but from what I've seen it looks like a real must until Ninja Gaiden 2 steps out from the shadows.
I sort of liked the original, but I do think it's a tad overrated. The game has practically ZERO atmospere. Yeah, the controls are clever and well balanced, but the settings, the music and the terrible plot don't connect. They just don't. It feels like a random series of stages that you have to go through, visiting pedestrian locations with nothing to do, defeating enemy after enemy. That last part is fun, because the learning curve is so subtly implemented that you'll continue to improve your skills until the very last minute. Very well done. This is basically the only thing that kept me interested.....Until chapter 13 or 14. That's where this game really got on my nerves.
So yeah, uh, Sigma had better be a massive improvement, although I doubt it will be.

i new i couldnt make it to the bottom of the page without you remarking on the PS3's pricepoint...
Pfffff....don't know about you lot but I couldn't get past the boss in the burning village. Even the big fella with the nunchucks took like, a million go's to beat. Balls to it, DMC4 for the win.
